Mahamoud Ali Youssouf is a Djiboutian political figure, currently serving as Minister of Foreign Affairs.
After serving as Djibouti's Ambassador to Egypt, Youssouf was appointed as Minister Delegate responsible for International Cooperation on July 4, 2001.[1][2] Youssouf was subsequently appointed as Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on May 22, 2005.[3] In 2006 he visited Japan.
Youssouf was Chairman of the 129th Ordinary Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Arab League in 2008.[4] Speaking to The New York Times in 2008, Youssouf said that Djibouti, "a small country with a big port", hoped to develop its economy along the same lines as Dubai. According to Youssouf, Djibouti is "even better located than Dubai".[5]
